The Coziest Winter Nail Colors for January 2022

The Coziest Winter Nail Colors for January 2022

The beginning of a new year often has us all feeling like starting off fresh by taking on better habits, getting rid of old ones, and—most commonly—changing up our look. While others are hitting the squats and going into the salon for a pixie cut, why not start slow and steady with a cozy winter manicure in a color that feels new to you? It takes only a little courage to step outside your usual OPI Lincoln Park After Dark or Essie Bordeaux, which is all you need to kick 2022 off on a fanciful foot.  From new wintry takes on classic dark nail colors to unique pops of color that'll have you feeling the opposite of boring, these are the best nail colors to try this January and tick off all the way into spring.

16 Kitchen Design Trends Southern Designers Predict Will Be Everywhere in 2022

16 Kitchen Design Trends Southern Designers Predict Will Be Everywhere in 2022

There's no denying how the pandemic fundamentally changed the world—including how we live (and work) inside our homes. An overall trend toward celebrating the history and originality of our homes is displacing ultramodern aesthetics and sharp lines as we all look to create cozier, colorful, more personalized spaces that better suit our lifestyles. We're turning away from big-box stores and toward vintage items—first, out of necessity due to supply-chain issues, and now, for design reasons—to add charm and character to every room in the house, including the kitchen. Here, interior designers from around the South share their predictions for what's trending in kitchen design for 2022 and beyond.

There's nothing much that can't be fixed with a cold, creamy milkshake complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top. It's a simple classic that we do not deign to challenge. But, for those who have a particular proclivity for indulgent Southern desserts (that require an actual utensil to eat), a simple vanilla or chocolate milkshake just might not do the trick. So, we set out to solve that pressing problem by creating milkshake masterpieces inspired by some of our favorite Southern desserts. When we say these are decadent, we mean it—but that's what makes these a special treat to cool you and your loved ones down all summer long. Taken from the plate to the glass, here are four original milkshakes that will put you in a creamy, dreamy state.

Recipe: Peanut Butter Pie Milk Shake

There’s nothing quite like a rich peanut butter pie, except maybe one in milk shake form. Caramel topping, mixed with the peanut butter and other sweet ingredients, makes this shake to-die-for—seriously! Drizzle the sides of the glass with chocolate syrup for some flair.

Recipe: Banana Pudding Milk Shake

Banana pudding is such an essential summer treat that we’ll eat it all day, any day, but if you’re looking for a way to cool down even more, make this dessert favorite into a milk shake. Our personal touch is some crushed vanilla wafers on top (and a few extra to snack on too!).

Salted caramel has really snuck up on the dessert scene as the perfect salty-sweet combo, and it makes for a tasty shake when paired with good old Southern pecans. Flaky sea salt sprinkled on top gives the perfect finishing touch.
