And our Southern closets are rejoicing
Jewel tones abounded at Princess Eugenie’s wedding this morning and no one sparkled quite as bright as Kate.
It’s true, our favorite Duchess typically tries to remain remarkably under the radar when it comes to attending the nuptials of her family, friends, and other royal counterparts—but today she gave us a treat. Kate pitter-pattered through the doors of St. George’s Chapel in an elegant head-to-toe fuchsia look with one of her favorite designers, Alexander McQueen, once again creating a dress fit for a future queen. It was perfection.
From her whimsical fascinator to her pointed-toe stilettos, Kate was a jewel-toned vision, quite a departure from her typical wedding uniform. She added a bit of sparkle (okay, a rather hefty amount—perhaps scrapping that royal rule of no daytime diamonds) with what appears to be teardrop sparklers. It’s safe to say those weren’t CZ.
As for the other royals, nearly everyone received the rich-toned memo. Newlywed Meghan Markle opted for a monochromatic look starting with a navy frock from Givenchy—the very designer that created the wedding dress she wore to marry Prince Harry in the same church just months before. The mother and sister of the bride wore emerald and sapphire respectively, while other members of the royal clan opted for similar ground on the color wheel.
While it’s always fun to ogle at the latest royal fashions from across the pond, there’s also quite a remarkable connection between Ms. Middleton’s fashion choices and those we wind up seeing fill the shelves and racks of our favorite stores stateside. So, if you were preparing for another season of subdued wedding guest attire, it’s time to think again. Kate just heralded in a brand-new wedding guest uniform that’s anything but understated.
