The Nighttime Face Oil That’s Totally Transformed My Mornings
It’s the skincare secret I can’t keep to myself.
For a gal who’s surrounded by coworkers who are fluent in oils and serums, I’m pretty lax about my own beauty routine.
For a long time, I didn’t have to do much to keep my complexion clear and skin dewy. Washing my face with a plain old bar of Dove soap did the trick in the evenings, and in the mornings, I brushed on makeup without ever giving a thought to moisturizers or primers. As I’ve started to get older, though, I’ve found that my skin is a little more fickle than it once was. While my daily makeup routine is still minimal and something I typically don’t spend more than five minutes on, I’ve started to spend more time on my skin, both in the morning and at night.
I’m quick to tire of routines though, jumping on a cult favorite product’s bandwagon one day, only to abandon it a week later. But on a recent trip to the mountains, I noticed that my friend was absolutely glowing, her skin so clear and dewy that it almost looked airbrushed. Her secret? Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
The second I got back to the office, I asked Kiehl’s to send over a sample so I could see if it was my friend’s good fortune—or this good product—that had given her such flawless skin. They kindly obliged, and now, a month-ish of using this magic oil later, I’m sold.
A few drops massaged into my weary face at night reveals a bright, even complexion in the morning. Bye, bye redness! My various dry spots—the unwelcome result of this never-ending winter weather—have cleared up too, replaced by supple skin that’s soft to the touch. Plus, the lavender and evening primrose oils smell divine, lulling me to sleep the second my head hits the pillow.
I often fall out of skincare routines because they feel like a chore, but applying this oil elixir each night feels like a luxury, a well-deserved end-of-day treat for my tired, worn-out skin, with radiant effects that reveal themselves each morning. While the 1-ounce bottle of the concentrate rings in at a pretty $47, I’m convinced it’s worth every penny. After all I put my face through each day, this is the least I can do.
