The Drugstore Acne Patches I Can’t Get Enough Of
When I was a teenager, I truly believed that when I was "officially" an adult all my pimples would magically disappear. Yes, my skin has improved over time, but breakouts are still unavoidable — even in my thirties. While I'm no longer dealing with those red, angry clusters of blemishes I used to get on my chin, I'm now faced with an entirely different beast: The one spot that takes weeks to go away.
Typically, this pesky pimple has the same MO every time it pays my complexion a visit. It usually happens right when I'm finally thinking that my skin is looking better than ever. After starting out as a little bump, it will grow and grow until it literally looks like a witch's wart. Even with a nightly spot treatment, this sucker likes to hang out on my face for as long as it can. Despite my best efforts, I admit I am part of the problem. The reason? I'm so self-conscious about its massive size, I constantly touch it to see if it's deflated or losing steam (and we all know that that is one of the worst things you can do).

Even though the beauty editor in me knows what I'm doing is wrong, I just can't stop. Luckily, I recently found an acne-fighting product that not only prevents this bad habit, but also reduces the blemish's appearance. Meet my new skin savior: Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Zit Zapping Dots. To put it simply, they are stickers for your face. Each dot is infused with a pimple-fighting blend of charcoal and salicylic acid, but what makes it different than your usual spot treatment is that it covers up your zit completely. This way it prevents people like me from touching my breakout directly aka it stops me from spreading bacteria with my fingertips and making things worse.
Now whenever I see a potential flair-up, these patches have become my first line of defense. As soon as I get home in the evening, I'll wash my face then stick one over any troublesome looking spot, so I'll have a barrier between my skin and my fingers to avoid aggravating it more. Another great thing is that you can sleep in them (they'll be effective for up to ten hours!). While this treatment won't make zits completely disappear, it definitely helps reduce the size and makes it clear up faster — which is why this cheapie has become my favorite new zit-zapper.
