Meghan Markle Wore A Classic Nail Shade For Her Royal Engagement Debut
She's already following royal protocol.
Sure—the world oohed and awed at the handsome couple, who were impeccably dressed and noticeably in love, but we were especially savoring every royal ounce of beauty that Meghan Markle was serving up in her bridal-white coat, rich green dress, and nude pumps. She covered every base, even down to her classically royal nail shade. So what nail color does a lady wear to play host to the gorgeous custom-designed engagement ring bestowed by the world's most eligible prince? Well, you start by taking point from the royals themselves. (We certainly wouldn't want to rock that royal boat so soon, either.)
It's no secret that the Queen is more than partial to Essie's Ballet Slippers, the perfect baby pink; while Duchess Kate chose for her wedding day Essie's Allure, a slightly more nude shade. Following suit, Markle donned a classic pink-nude shade to complement her sparkling ring as she waved to the overjoyed crowd and clasped her beaming beau's hand. Her manicure looked fresh from the palace, giving way to suspicion that she may have chosen one of the two already royal-approved shades. An honorable mention goes to OPI's Bubble Bath as a potential option, and we'd personally love to see the refreshed version of Ballet Slippers, Essie's Mixtaupe, on the bride-to-be in the months to come.
Markle has been following royal protocol in the beauty department since stepping out in public with Prince Harry this year, sporting classic nude nails while attending the Invictus Games with her now-fiancé and avoiding garish nail shades, like bright red, just as Duchess Kate does for all public appearances. Without a doubt, the royal family stays true to the classics where beauty and style are concerned, including their manicures; and we're more than happy with Meghan Markle's nod to tradition during her engagement announcement.
