If this is wrong, we don’t want to be right.
You know those moments in life when you unexpectedly stumble upon total validation of the highest level? That happened to me recently, and here’s how I know. Someone told me: “You have really good skin.”
Joke’s on them, though. I do not have good skin. I have a myriad of face imperfections, including (but not limited to) some hyperpigmentation, occasional dullness, monthly blemishes, and an oily T-zone. So no, I do not have great skin. But what do I have? A great foundation. In fact, it’s the best-selling foundation of 2018 so far.
Maybelline’s SuperStay Full Coverage Foundation launched late last year and came out of the gate running. Following in the footsteps of heavy-hitters like Maybelline’s Fit Me! Foundation and Instant Age Rewind Concealer, this long-wear foundation covers every imperfection, stays all day, and gives a flawless matte finish. (Buy it here.)
Global data analytics company, Nielson, revealed that the formula topped the charts as the foundation with the most unit sales between November 2017 (when it was launched) and April 2018, according to New Beauty.
First, the packaging is right up my alley. With a pump dispenser, it makes application clean and easy. It usually only takes one pump to cover my entire face, using a makeup sponge to dab and blend it. The foolproof packaging helps keep it safe from spilling when traveling too, which is always a bonus.
Second, the pricey foundation dupe practically whips your wallet out for you. At just $12, it is more than worth the investment. (Using one or two pumps per day, you're not going in for a refill anytime soon, either. ) For me, that $50 foundation suddenly looked like the culprit behind everything wrong with the world.
Last but not least, though this foundation could be a bit more inclusive with its shade range, I found a shade that worked perfectly for me. It comes in 16 different shades, ranging from Fair Porcelain to Truffle. Can’t find your perfect match? Many makeup artists mix and match two different shades together anyway. You get to feel like a professional, and at $12 per bottle, it’s still cheaper than pricier brands.

As for me, I’ll be keeping this secret weapon locked and loaded. Any product that works this kind of magic deserves as much. Sometimes the stats just don’t lie, and this is definitely one of those times.
Next time you’re at Target, the drugstore, or even the grocery store, don’t feel guilty when you find yourself strolling down the makeup aisle and snagging a SuperStay.
