This Haircut Trend Is On Its Way In—And Bob Fans Will Love It Too
We've lobbed, bobbed, and stacked. We've donned middle parts, side parts, and severe parts. We've tousled, smoothed, and waved. If our varied hairstyle history of 2017 is any indication, what works in 2018 will run the gamut. There is one thing we can be sure of, though, and that is our favorite short style will always be in.
It's without reservation that we say the shag reigns supreme in our hearts. It has been one of our favorite short hairstyles since it was popularized decades ago, though one might mistake its many iterations for different styles completely. The shag is a chameleon. It works with fringe bangs, no bangs, shoulder-length strands, and bobs, meaning one can sport a shag cut her entire life without fear of having her tresses type-cast. The latest way to wear a shag just debuted and, we must say, it does not disappoint.
We're already calling the blunt shag every short-haired gal's latest obsession. It's characterized by that disheveled look the shag knows so well, and a straight-across blunt cut that makes it fuller than ever before—it's destined to be a winner for ladies with thin hair. The subtle layers and thick bottom shelf are ready to be tousled to perfection. To make it more like a traditional shag, ask your stylist to throw in some fringe bangs, but keep everything else relatively uniform. This air-dry friendly cut is begging for some salt spray and a good shake out. Finish with texturizing spray (like this fan-favorite) once it's dry for touchable hold.
