This Reese Witherspoon Circa 2008 Haircut is the Southern Girl’s “Rachel”
Go ahead and book your next cut—this is going to be a sure thing.
I think about Reese Witherspoon’s hair often. Probably a tad bit too much. She always seems to hit just the right note with her cut and color—aside from that time she became a brunette for a minute, but we’ll let it slide in the name of June Carter. While our favorite Southern sweetheart can do no wrong in the strands department, there was one standout style that I still dream about: her circa 2008 bouncy lob.
Side-swept bangs, shoulder-skimming ends, and that deep side part Southern ladies have all but trademarked—nearly every single one of our favorite looks came together in one dynamo package. Then, there was the bounce. Was it hot rollers that her stylist called on or just Olympic-level curling-iron skills? Her ends had just enough movement to give the illusion of added thickness, without even teetering a stray strand over to the precious side of things. Now, that’s a feat.
Reese wore a shorter cut throughout much of 2008, but it was the styling on a few key red carpets that really caught our eye. Notice her crown in the photo above. That’s not wash-and-go, ladies. As any Southern woman knows, a good haircut can only take you so far; good hair takes time and a commitment to detail. A little anti-frizz serum and hair spray are the only way to survive fashionably in this Southern climate, and don’t even get us started on heat tools. It seems Reese agrees. Her bouncy ends and perfectly placed part are the stuff of good-hair-day dreams. Who's with us?
