It blows away the competition.
Most travel blow dryers aren’t great. They’re loud, don’t allow for airflow concentrator attachments, and typically end up quitting right when you need them most—like when you’re already running late for that out-of-town wedding and there’s not a dryer to be found in your vacation rental. Been there. I recently read about a blow dryer that was so good one editor used it as a replacement for her full-size version. Naturally, I had to try it.
First of all, the BabylissPRO TT Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer has a ridiculously long name that I’m surprised even fits on the packaging—particularly once you see how big (rather, small) this 1000-watt tool is. When it landed on my desk I couldn’t help but chuckle at its size. It’s not the typical short, wide-mouthed travel dryers sold at most super stores. No, this is a blow dryer with standard proportions, just in miniature. It’s so small in fact, that it’s almost unnecessary for the handle to fold up, but it does. Even though it clocks in at only a pound, this fire engine red dryer is surprisingly powerful. The airflow concentrator attachment allowed me to lift my hair at the root and dry with my typical technique—something I haven’t been able to do with other travel-size versions.
So, now the question remains: Does it make the cut as a replacement for pricier, full-sized blow dryers? For me, I’m not ready to make the switch just yet. The only reason being it would probably add an extra 5 minutes to my weekday morning routine due to my thick, wavy hair. That being said, it’s definitely going with me on my beach trip next week. Guaranteed good hair days and the ability to fit one more pair of wedges in my already tightly packed luggage? That's a win-win scenario.
