My Grandmother's Beauty Secrets That Stood The Test of Time
Lois "Nanny" Sout
Miami circa 1960
With her year-round tan, bright blue eyes, and brilliant smile, my grandmother didn't need much to enhance her looks. Nanny figured out her style at an early age and stuck to it, which meant at-home manicures, bright lipstick, and a standing appointment at the beauty salon for her usual perm. She was always the most beautiful and put-together woman in a room, but she also loved to have fun. Looking good never stopped her from getting down on the floor to play with her dog, swimming with her granddaughters, or riding her bike around her Florida neighborhood. I think of her whenever I swipe on lipstick before taking my son to the playground.
