WATCH: The Drugstore Foundation That Doesn’t Turn My Fair Skin Orange
And the price is just right too.
Finding good makeup for fair skin is a battle, and I’m not even talking strictly drugstore products. The shades are rarely light enough for my super fair skin, which results in a slightly orange hue and visible lines around my hairline. If you’ve ever had a stranger try to blend your makeup while standing in the checkout line, you understand the struggle. But, if you think you’re destined to a fate of pricey specialty foundations, think again. Revlon’s PhotoReady Insta-Filter Foundation recently landed on my desk and I was instantly a believer.
Revlon Photoready is bound to be your new favorite wallet-friendly foundation. It comes in 12 shades that range from Ivory (my shade of choice) to Mocha. As you twist the bottom of the tube, foundation is dispensed through a hole in the middle of the built-in sponge applicator, which I had mixed feelings about. While it eliminated the risk of spills (big win when there’s a toddler and overly curious pup in the house), the sponge is attached to the bottle and therefore can’t be washed as one might wash other makeup applicators or brushes. That being said, I’m not a huge fan of sponge application in general, so take that note as you will.
The finish is relatively matte and can be a bit drying if your skin tends to be thirsty to start with, but the airbrushed result is unrivaled. You can build color depending on the kind of coverage you’re looking for. I was conservative with my application and still managed to feel like my most notable imperfections were completely camouflaged without being too cakey—and I know we can all agree on a supreme dislike of cakiness.
I’ve tested many foundations in my search for the best foundation for fair skin (with pink undertones, at that) and Revlon PhotoReady Foundation is hands down the best drugstore option out there.
