Elizabeth Arden

I've been using the same tube of mascara for the past three months—let's call it my summer mascara. It gave me full, lush lashes that were the perfect counterpoint to my nearly bare beauty look between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Once I started upping my makeup game for fall though, something was certainly off. I was in need of a refresh, and Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara ($25) turned out to be the unlikely hero.

My summer mascara was great, don't get me wrong, but there was something about those mega-watt lashes that began to feel a little stale once we hit September. Perhaps it was the fact that I finally started doing my makeup again, instead of relying solely on said lashes to pull the weight. With the addition of shadow, liner, and brows, suddenly my natural look was becoming a bit too heavy (dare I say, garish).

That's where Elizabeth Arden's little red tube came into play. A brand representative sent a sample my way last week and the fact that I waited nearly seven days to give it a try is a regret I will have to live with. Let me tell you something—this stuff is good, real good. I swiped it on and suddenly I had long, natural-looking lashes that were perfectly separated. No clumping here!

I opted for a second coat (remember, I'm weaning myself off of a mascara high), but just one is certainly plenty for I-woke-up-like-this lashes. Grand Entrance is the perfect curtain for the richer, bolder tones we'll be pairing on our lips and eyes this fall and into the holiday season. It still brings the drama, but in a way that doesn't come close to being overdone.
