The Only Neutral Eye Shadow You Need To Go From Day To Night
Over the years, we've seen beauty trends ranging from thickly lined cat eyes, to colorful mascaras; but we've primarily shied away from of-the-moment fads and kept it classic. Finally, there's a trend that Southern ladies can get behind—though, truth be told, this look du jour has been a mainstay in our beauty routine for years.
Soft shades are currently dressing eyes and lips on runways and red carpets, which doesn't mean a whole lot for Southerners who have been wearing this ladylike look for generations. While there are plenty of subtle shades to choose from, one that we're loving right now is Estee Lauder's Pure Color Envy Defining EyeShadow in Magnetic Rose.
As its name implies, you can either use a wet or dry application technique depending on how bold you want to go. The hue is a rosy pink with a slight shimmer that brightens and makes eyes pop.

Start by applying a primer to lids to keep them from creasing. For a more subtle effect, sweep color over lids with a dry eye-shadow brush. Use a damp brush for application if you prefer more intense color. You can add a bit of dimension by applying a slightly darker complimenting hue (try Estee's Amber Intrigue) to the eyelid crease. The trick to building on eye color is to always blend colors up and out toward the end of the brow. You'll want the color to fade or soften as it works its way in toward the nose. Finally, use an angled liner brush to sweep a bit of Magnetic Rose on the lower lash line to blend your look. Voila! You've just created a day to night eye-makeup look that's perfectly on-trend—though, truth be told, we'll be wearing it long after the fashion plate have set their sights on the next big thing.
