Skip the resolutions that are going to leave you feeling down-and-out come mid-January. Gym guilt? No thank you. Instead we’re sticking with a few beauty resolutions that are full of all the feel-good vibes, no matter what the outcome. This list is strictly about treating yourself better in 2020—and that’s something we can all get behind this year. What do you say?

Splurge for a Silk Pillowcase

The benefits of a silk pillowcase are many, but the most important might just be how it makes me feel. I’ve benefited from smoother, less-damaged hair while also appreciating the lack of pillow lines on the side of my face come morning, but what I love most of all has to be the cool feeling of silk against my skin. It just feels like luxury, and who doesn’t want that at the end of the day? My favorite (and my mama's too) is the SLIP Silk Pillowcase. It's my go-to gift for my favorite ladies.

Find/Invest in a Cleanser You Love

I recently tried Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser and it totally changed my outlook on what a good face wash can do—particularly for those who dread this all-too-important step. Is it the most expensive part of my skincare routine? Yes. Is it worth it? Also a yes. Instead of dragging my feet to the sink each night, I look forward to it. A pricey cleanser is certainly not a necessity, but sometimes you’ve just got to treat yourself.

Make Yourself a Priority

A few months ago, I started working out every day. And I mean every single day. I didn’t do it to lose weight, I did it because I recognized a need for reprioritizing where my wellbeing ranked on the daily list of priorities. Whether we’re talking a 10-minute stroll around the block, a reflective commute to and from the office, or an evening face-masking routine, putting yourself first for just a few minutes each day can have a substantial impact. You might even find, like I did, that you’re able to give even more to those around you. Now isn’t that something?

Find a Holy Grail Foundation

Discovering a favorite foundation isn’t a task to be achieved in just one day. It takes time and typically includes far more than just a quick, drive-by application at the department store beauty counter. Start with narrowing down the selections to a formula that suits your skin type—dry, oily, combination, aging, etc. Then move on to selecting the suitable level of coverage (tip: buildable coverage is always a good middle ground if you’re on the fence). The last and perhaps most important step in the process is to find an ideal shade, which not too long ago was easier said than done. Thanks to more inclusive shade ranges, it’s becoming easier to find a match for nearly every skin tone. Cheers to even more inclusivity within the beauty industry in the coming year.

Don’t Underestimate the Power of a Good Mascara

A good mascara doesn’t have to be expensive. Say that one more time with me: A good mascara doesn’t have to be expensive. One of our all-time favorite mascaras retails for less than $6 at Target. Other winners include this tubing number from Kevyn Aucoin as well as this winner, winner by IT Cosmetics. A good set of lashes can really turn your day around. Trust me on this.

Switch Up Your Nail Color

You might be a 365-days-a-year Ballet Slippers kind of gal, but make a resolution to take a walk on the wild side in 2020 with a mani mix-up. From navy blues to bold reds, there are plenty of nail colors to try out on your digits this year. Bonus points if you end up finding a new go-to.
