Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Will Have This Dish on Their Easter Menu
Southerners won’t be surprised
Whether your Easter menu centers around a perfectly spiraled ham or a roasted leg of lamb, chances are one side dish would show up regardless. According to a new survey commissioned by McCormick, nearly 61 percent of Americans will either serve or enjoy deviled eggs as a side dish this Easter. It doesn’t really come as a surprise to us that this Southern staple is a favorite choice from coast to coast. Really, is the excuse of a holiday even necessary to enjoy the delicious, tangy bite of a devilled egg?
In a statement, McCormick stated that, “while 45 percent of consumers will enjoy the classic recipe, with mustard and paprika as go-to flavors, many are “eggs-perimenting” with different ingredients.” They found that 46 percent of those surveyed chose to bring bacon into the mix while other ingredient add-ins included avocado, pickles, and crab meat.
“We know that deviled eggs are an Easter favorite, and wanted to inspire everyone to try something new. They had flavors in mind, so we challenged regional chefs to develop recipes that would help Americans get their ideas to the table,” said Kevan Vetter, McCormick Executive Chef.

However, you whip up your party eggs, we agree with most of America, devilled eggs are a must for Easter. But we have to wonder, with Passover falling on the same weekend as Easter this year, the percentage of Americans consuming a devilled egg on Easter Sunday will surely be greater.
