This Is The Trick To Making Better S'mores
There are a few classic dishes that make a Southern summer truly special. Flavorful barbecue and traditional cookout food, like hamburgers and hot dogs are a must-have during the summer season. But, for those of us who grew up running barefoot after fireflies below the Mason-Dixon for most of our childhood, s'mores are the campfire favorite that make a Southern summer unforgettable.
You know the treat. It's simply roasted marshmallows sandwiched between milk chocolate and graham crackers. The timeless combination couldn't possibly be improved upon – until now. You read that correctly. There is a secret trick for making even better s'mores than you're use to, and it's so easy.
Here's a hint: the upgrade involves many chocolate-lovers' favorite candy. Rolos. The cone-shaped sweets are known for the recognizable tube with bold, red lettering they're packaged in. What's inside is purely a milk chocolate bite filled with caramel. Yum. You may be wondering, what do Rolos have to do with making great s'mores? Keep reading.

The trick is to merely stuff the Rolo inside the marshmallow before roasting it on the fire. The beloved candy fits perfectly inside the fluffy, white treat – it's like they were made for each other. Once the Rolo is secured inside the marshmallow, roast it as you normally would. Next, plop the warm sweet between the two graham crackers and enjoy. You could stop here; no need to do anything else, but if you're like me and can never get enough chocolate, feel free to add in the milk chocolate pieces as well. There's no such thing as too much chocolate, and the caramel in the Rolo enhances everything you already love about the classic campfire treat.
