Team Shine isn't your ordinary cheerleading squad. They're a nationally ranked Special Needs Competitive Cheer Team out of Jacksonville, Florida. And they have their eyes set on the World Cheerleading Championship.

But first, Team Shine needs to get to "The Battle at the Capitol," a spotlight event for special needs teams coming up this weekend in Washington, D.C.

Part of the River City Allstars, Team Shine consists of 21 team members, eight buddies (volunteers), and two coaches, and they rely on donations for everything from uniforms to airfare. At last year's "Battle at the Capitol" they came in third place, and this year they hope to earn the number one spot -- along with a bid to the championships at Disney World.

At the end of the day, it's not just about winning for these youngsters. It's about inspiring kids with special needs to follow their dreams.

Team Shine needs to raise $10,000 this week so they can compete in Washington, D.C. Learn more about them on their Facebook page, and you can donate to the group here.
