Southern Charm Tip #46: Be a One-Person Welcome Wagon
There's nothing more charming than Southern hospitality. With that in mind, we're always looking for sweet ways to welcome new neighbors.
Residents new to the neighborhood will appreciate a homemade pie, sure. But what they really need is a lot more basic, such as answers to "What day is trash pickup?" "Where's the nearest dry cleaner?" and "Who is the best veterinarian in the area?" Corral this information for them into one handy packet, and you'll be an absolute life-saver. Even sweeter: Pair the info with a measuring cup-worth of our Orange Spice Sugar (recipe below) and a note that explains you've compiled a quick guide to some of your family's favorite spots and if they ever need anything, feel free to ask. In the meantime, they can enjoy this neighborly cup of sugar.
Orange Spice Sugar Pulse 1 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp. chopped crystallized ginger, 1 Tbsp. orange zest, ½ tsp. ground cinnamon, and ¼ tsp. ground allspice in a food processor until blended. Sprinkle on sugar cookies or stir into tea. Makes 1 cup.
