If you're looking for a great Southern summer film, you can't go wrong with Shag, and if you're looking for a great summer activity, you can't go wrong with learning to shag–and we know just the place. Fat Harold's is a Myrtle Beach institution that is doing its part to ensure that shagging never goes out of style.

Fat Harold's Beach Club, located right on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach, has been teaching people to shimmy and shake in style for years. Every Tuesday night the beach club fills up with eager dancers-in-training who want to learn the steps to the South Carolina state dance. Dancers of all levels pony up and practice their shag under the guidance of expert instructors, some of whom have been inducted into the Shaggers Hall of Fame, while a DJ spins oldies that are perfect for shagging to.

While the classes are popular, walk-ins are always welcome and if you don't have a partner, one will be provided for you (although he or she probably won't look like Phoebe Cates, Bridget Fonda, or Annabeth Gish or even Johnny Valentine). After a few lessons at Fat Harold's, you just might find yourself entering a dance-off—and giving Pudge a run for her money at the next Myrtle Beach shag contest. Larry Marciano, a loyal shagger, suggests grabbing a fried bologna sandwich at Duck's Night Club, which is right across the street.
