You'll soon be able to revisit The Secret Garden alongside Mary, Dickon, and Colin, because there's a new film adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved book on the horizon.

The Secret Garden follows Mary Lennox, an ill-tempered 10-year-old orphan who moves from India to England to live in the care of her uncle, Archibald Craven, and who discovers a secret garden on the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor, her new home. Along the way, she encounters Mrs. Medlock, the housekeeper of Misselthwaite; Martha Sowerby, a chambermaid; Dickon, Martha's brother; and Colin, Mary's sickly cousin. For the film, the time period has reportedly been changed from that of the novel, as the story of the film is set to take place in the years following World War II.

The new film will star Colin Firth (The King's Speech, Love Actually) as Archibald Craven, Julie Walters (Mamma Mia!, Billy Elliot) as Mrs. Medlock, and Dixie Egerickx (The Little Stranger) as Mary Lennox. The film will be produced by David Heyman (Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Paddington) among others. Marc Munden will direct the screenplay, which was penned by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Filming began on May 1 in the U.K.

The Secret Garden has already been adapted into films, miniseries, and a musical, some of which are linked below so that you can revisit them before the new film is released. Also, if you haven't yet listened to the 1991 musical, you should download the original Broadway cast album right now. It's a masterpiece of musical theatre composed by Lucy Simon with a book and lyrics by Marsha Norman. It features Daisy Eagan as Mary, Mandy Patinkin as Archibald, Alison Fraser as Martha, and John Cameron Mitchell as Dickon.
