Virginia Family Finds the Sweetest Way to Honor Their Late Dog
"Love this moment with your dog and enjoy this play time together in memory of our sweet Marley who absolutely loved to play ball."
A family came into the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA this week with a bucket full of colorful tennis balls and a note. Wishing to remain anonymous, the family hoped that the gift, given in memory of their late dog Marley, would bring joy to the shelter dogs.
"Please help yourself to a tennis ball for you and your dog to play with," the note said, according to The Dodo. "Keep it or drop it back in the bucket for another dog to enjoy! Love this moment with your dog and enjoy this play time together in memory of our sweet Marley who absolutely loved to play ‘ball.'"
The note also included a photo of Marley, who passed away recently, at the age of 13.
Fredericksburg Regional SPCA told The Dodo that their shelter staff is making great use of the donation, which they're using to help socialize its available dogs while they wait to be adopted.
