You've been working all day and Fido has been cooped up at home. Sounds like you both need to get out and enjoy some fresh air (and a few cold beers). We've found some great pet-friendly places to hang with friends while enjoying good food, cold drinks, and great conversation.

Avondale Brewing, Birmingham, AL

201 41st St. S.

(205) 777-5456

There's always fun to be had at Avondale. The huge, fenced-in backyard space is great for roaming pups, and has lots of seating for you too. Enjoy some incredible bands on the big stage or play a game of corn-hole or volleyball with your friends. If you're hungry, you can bring in a pizza from neighboring Post Office Pies or BBQ from Saw's Juke Joint.

Pirates Coe, Elberta, AL

6664 County Road 95

(251) 987-1224

Come to Pirates Cove for sun, fun, music, swimming, burgers, and Bushwackers. Located on Arnica Bay near the Gulf of Mexico, your kids and your dogs will love this classic spot.

333 S. Franklin St.

(813) 274-7778

Free doggy treats and stainless steel water bowls make Sail Pavilion an incredibly dog-friendly stomping ground. Sparky also gets his own menu, which includes Frosty Paws and Mr. Barksmith Doggie Smoothies. And you will enjoy the open-air pavilion of the Tampa Riverwalk while having a light lunch, a drink from their full bar, or just enjoying a little people watching.

The Dog Bar, Charlotte, NC

3307 N. Davidson St.

(704) 370-3595

Located in the Arts Districts, The Dog Bar caters as much to dogs as it does to humans. For example, this off-leash bar has live music, an extensive beer list, liquor, and several wines. Need any other reasons to go? Food isn't served but you can bring in take-out from nearby restaurants. Catch a ball game on one of the many TVs while your dog plays in a safe environment—inside and out. There is a $10 yearly membership fee per dog and proof of vaccination must be given on your first visit.

The Barrel, Charleston, SC

1859 Folly Rd.

(843) 732-2337

Located near Folly Beach, The Barrel serves up some of the best local and regional craft beers including some hard-to-find imports. The waterfront backyard is designed to entertain you and your dog with local food trucks, live bands, shuffleboard courts, and corn-hole games.

Loflin Yard, Memphis, TN

7 W. Carolina Ave.

(901) 249-3046
