If one of your favorite things to do over the Thanksgiving holiday is curl up with a good book, you’re not alone. According to an independent survey, Barnes & Noble has discovered that the day before Thanksgiving (a.k.a. Thanksgiving Eve) is also Americans’ busiest reading day of the year. The survey found that 77% of Americans read one or more books, newspapers, or magazines during their Thanksgiving travels—are you one of those readers?
Similarly, 73% of respondents said that reading is one way they make their travels more relaxing, while one in four divulged that packing a book to read over the Thanksgiving holiday is a good strategy for getting out of awkward conversations with relatives. (Noted!) In any case, there’s nothing cozier than settling in at home with a cup of tea and a good book, and it’s also a trusty companion in airplane terminals and on long-haul flights. In addition, the survey asked people if they wished they had more time to read, and it’s no surprise that 58% of respondents said yes. (We completely agree.) That’s why, when life gives you a vacation, you should always spend it reading a great book.
