If you've never been to Floore's Country Store in Helotes, Texas – you're missing out on one of the country's best honky tonks.
This legendary venue kicks off their celebration of 75 years of country music. Floore's has played host to the likes of Willie Nelson, Ernest Tubb, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakam, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Rogers Band, B.B. King, and Little Richard over the years, as well as budding musical artists.
Kicking off the season will be, fittingly, Robert Earl Keen and Randy Rogers Band on April 14 and 15. The co-headline is the first of many performances scheduled at Floore's this season.
With its rich history in music and legends, Floore's is an iconic slice of Texas that all Southerners should experience. “Floore's Country Store is a timeless honky tonk. One hundred years from now, you're going to step out of your spaceship and tell your robot spouse, "This is Floore’s Country Store. It's where music was invented,” said Robert Earl Keen. Rogers noted, “I’m proud to be a part of the 75th anniversary celebration,” Rogers adds, "it’s an honor to play the shows with Robert, and it will easily be one of the highlights of my career. Both Floore’s and Robert are a big part of why I have a job in this crazy business.”
Here are some of our favorite quotes from country artists who hold Floore's close to their hearts.
“I wanted to play Floore’s for as long as I can remember. Willie and Robert had a great deal to do with that. When people ask me where is my favorite place to play I tell them Helotes, TX. John T’s.”
“Floore’s is the Carnegie Hall of Texas. Funkier but just as prestigious."
–Ray Wylie Hubbard
"Happy 75th Anniversary! I gotta tell ya, this is one of my favorite places to play in the entire country. It’s like playing in someone’s backyard. It’s always packed; it’s always a good crowd. I hope to always be welcome back at Floore’s.”
“John T’s is the scene of many of my best musical memories…From my first show, going to see Robert Earl Keen record No. 2 Live Dinner with my buddy David Henry, to opening for Jerry Jeff Walker. I’ve been collecting memories for 25 of Floore’s 75 years…Looking forward to the 100 year anniversary.”
"I remember the first time we were booked at Floore's. I wanted my boots to make the sound that Robert Earl's did on 'LIVE No. 2' as I walked across that stage. I still feel the same over 15 years later. Floore's in Texas means as much to me as Cain's in Oklahoma ...legendary.”
“John T Floore’s Country Store is a classic Texas tradition whose historical value is beyond means. One of the best Texas dance halls of all time.”
–Gary P. Nunn
