Clear your schedules, because the creator of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is masterminding your next TV obsession. Amazon has already ordered two seasons of Sherman-Palladino's new series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and it is, in a word, marvelous. This pilot of this new must-see show was released on Amazon in March, and you can watch the first episode on Amazon Prime now. Do you have 57 minutes? Go ahead, watch it. We'll wait.

Wasn't it great? You didn't see that plot twist coming, did you? No spoilers!

Sherman-Palladino wrote and directed the series, which follows the adventures of Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a housewife in 1950s Manhattan, who unexpectedly discovers a hidden talent for stand-up comedy. The show stars Rachel Brosnahan, who previously appeared on House of Cards, as the titular, fast-talking Midge Maisel. And, in the vein of Richard and Emily Gilmore, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle play Midge's parents, who conveniently live across the hall from the Maisels. Michael Zegen and Alex Borstein also make appearances (in fantastic fifties attire, no less). You may recognize Alex Borstein from Gilmore Girls, as she played both Drella, a harpist for the Independence Inn, and Miss Celine, Emily Gilmore's stylist.

Amazon has already ordered two seasons of the show, so you know it's going to be good. We can't wait for the rest of the episodes to be released so we can dive into the whimsical, funny world of the show. We're also hoping it can fill the sizeable space Gilmore Girls left in our TV schedules. We've come to expect plenty of fast-talking and compelling characters from Amy Sherman-Palladino, and it looks like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will be no exception. Midge Maisel is poised to be an addition to our lineup of favorite characters, right alongside Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.
