The Ingalls family is calling! That's right: The 1970s television show Little House on the Prairie is currently available on Amazon Prime, which makes now the perfect time to revisit the classic series.

Little House on the Prairie is set in the 1870s and follows the life of the Ingalls family—Charles, Caroline, Mary, Laura, and Carrie, who live their lives on a farm in Minnesota. The show is based on the original Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, a series of nine classic children's novels that chronicle the author's childhood. They follow the adventures of Wilder and her family, who lived in the American Midwest (including stints in Wisconsin, Kansas, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Missouri) during the late 19th century. The books include Little House in the Big Woods, Farmer Boy, Little House on the Prairie, On the Banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, The Long Winter, Little Town on the Prairie, These Happy Golden Years, and The First Four Years.

The Emmy Award-winning television series aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983. It stars Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls, Michael Landon as Charles Ingalls, Karen Grassle as Caroline Ingalls, Rachel Lindsay Greenbush and Sidney Greenbush as Carrie Ingalls, and Melissa Sue Anderson as Mary Ingalls. (Johnny and June Carter Cash even appeared in the series—Season 3, Episode 1!)

All nine seasons of Little House on the Prairie are now available to watch via Amazon Prime Video. You can find the books upon which the series is based on Amazon and Indiebound.
