If you've been meaning to join a book club but haven't yet jumped aboard, we have great news for you. There's a new virtual book club being spearheaded by Jenna Bush Hager and the TODAY Show, and everyone's invited to join. We're excited about it here at Southern Living, and we plan to read along with Jenna all year long. (Because haven't you heard? Studies say reading makes you happier.)

According to TODAY, "The daughter of a librarian and our resident bookworm, Jenna's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the best new reads." This month, Jenna picked The Last Romantics by Tara Conklin as the club's first read. The book's publisher, HarperCollins, describes the story this way, "A sweeping yet intimate epic about one American family, The Last Romantics is an unforgettable exploration of the ties that bind us together, the responsibilities we embrace and the duties we resent, and how we can lose—and sometimes rescue—the ones we love."

According to TODAY, throughout the month, they plan to post updates on their Instagram page, including questions and prompts that will spark conversations about the book. Jenna shared with TODAY, "I think in a world that can feel very, sort of, technologically-obsessed, it's kind of fun to go back to the old-school book clubs […] My mom was in one. My grandma was in one. I'm in one. And now we get to do it. Even though it is through tech, we get to be connected and have conversations."
