Hands up: Who loves the film Ever After? You know the one. It's the 1998 movie starring Drew Barrymore as Danielle de Barbarac, aka Cinderella, in a gorgeous rendering of Renaissance-era France. Andy Tennant directs. Anjelica Huston is the story's wicked stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent. Dougray Scott is Prince Charming—er, Prince Henry. And let's not forget the George Fenton score. Ever After is a perennially underrated romantic drama, and it's due for a revisit. Luckily for us, the story has recently been adapted into a musical for the stage. Even better news? Ever After the musical is headed to Atlanta in 2019.

The musical was brought to life by songwriting team Zina Goldrich (music) and Marcy Heisler (book and lyrics), who also created the shows Adventures in Love, The Great American Mousical, Dear Edwina, and Junie B. Jones. Ever After had its world premiere at the Paper Mill Playhouse in 2015, and the musical will come to life again on the brand-new Coca-Cola Stage at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. The show will run there from January 15 through February 17, 2019, in a production directed by Susan V. Booth, the Alliance Theatre's Jennings Hertz Artistic Director, with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter (School of Rock, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever).

The Atlanta production features a stellar cast, including Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, The Phantom of the Opera) as Danielle de Barbarac, Tim Rogan (Disney's Beauty and the Beast-National Tour, Camelot-National Tour) as Prince Henry, Rachel York (Kiss Me Kate, Victor/Victoria) as Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent, and Georgia native Shuler Hensley (Oklahoma!, Young Frankenstein) as Leonardo Da Vinci. York and Hensley are veritable casting coups; watch 2003's West End revival of Kiss Me, Kate and 1999's Trevor Nunn-directed National Theatre revival of Oklahoma! (both of which were filmed for posterity), and you'll be convinced to scoop up your tickets posthaste.

According to the show's synopsis, the musical tells the story of "Danielle de Barbarac as she risks everything to save a friend from an unjust fate, capturing the heart and imagination of a country along the way. With the help of none other than Leonardo da Vinci, Danielle must decide not only who she is but what she'll fight for and how far she'll go for love. A new take on the Cinderella legend, Ever After, directed by Susan V. Booth, celebrates the true magic at the heart of the beloved story—the strength of the human spirit."

Who's ready to buy tickets? (I certainly am.) Tickets are available for purchase now at Superfans can also get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the show at the special event Ever After: Behind the Musical, a free-to-attend conversation with the producers, creators, and creative team bringing the production to the stage.
