It's one of our favorite things too.

If you’ve taken one look at our social feeds, you know that we’re avid Fixer Upper viewers here at Southern Living. There’s just something about each episode’s happy ending that’s so relaxing after a Tuesday at the office. And this might be biased, but it sure is hard to imagine the Gaines’ hit TV show taking place anywhere other than the South.

Down here, we love a comeback story, especially if there is a gorgeous home involved. We’re also known to hang on to heirlooms far past their perceived prime. That’s something Joanna would totally approve of, right? Her modern farmhouse aesthetic also pairs beautifully with our region’s historic architecture.

But it’s the Gaines’ strong sense of community that so near and dear to our Southern hearts. Chip and Jo celebrate the people, places, and beauty of Waco every episode and they’ve inspired thousands to make the pilgrimage to The Magnolia Silos.

All that local love we see on TV? Yeah, that’s what has inspired the Gaines to plant such strong roots down here. “Our friends, neighbors and co-workers are just the nicest, most genuine folks,” Chip said. “They’ve created a beautiful, welcoming community for our kids and we wouldn’t want them to grow up anywhere else.”

Our feelings exactly, Chip. From a few people who wake up everyday to celebrate this wonderful region of ours, we totally see the appeal. Guess we won’t see HGTV’s biggest stars leaving Waco anytime soon.
