Great news, Hallmark fans: Chesapeake Shores is back for its second season. If you missed last season, we'll help catch you up. Based on the novels by Sherryl Woods, this multigenerational story of the O’Brien family is set in the scenic Maryland seaside town of Chesapeake Shores. The cast is filled with many talented actors including award-winning author, actor, and director, Dianne Ladd, who plays Nell O’Brien, the matriarch and the glue that holds this family together. Longtime Hollywood actor and heart-throb, Treat Williams, plays her son, Mick, a successful but workaholic contractor/developer and patriarch to his five adult children. The show centers around daughter, Abby, (played by Meghan Ory) a divorced mother of twin girls who decides to relocate her family back home to Chesapeake Shores after realizing she’s tired of the Manhattan rat race and the constant struggle with her ex. However, she also has to face the unresolved issues with her father and mother, who divorced when she was a teenager.
Of course, no Hallmark movie or series is complete without a great love story. While several relationships unfold among the complicated lives of the O’Brien children, we are completely drawn to the romantic tug of war between Abby and her old flame, Trace Riley, played by Dallas star, Jesse Metcalfe. In addition to acting, Jesse Metcalfe is an accomplished singer/musician and debuts his new original song, Freefall, for Season 2. The Hallmark Channel has created some very successful series including Good Witch, When Calls the Heart, and one of my favorites, Cedar Cove, starring Andie McDowell, one of Southern Living’s celebrity style cover girls.
