Doris Day Finds Out She’s Two Years Older Than She Thought on Her 95th Birthday
If you ask us, she doesn't look a day over 75!
Better late than never, right?
Doris Day, the Hollywood legend known for her role in 1959's Pillow Talk, just found out that she's two years older than she thought she was! Day, who previously thought she was 93, found out on her birthday that she's actually 95.
The news broke via the Associated Press, which located a copy of Day's birth certificate. According to the official document, Day's real birthday is April 3, 1922.
"There has long been speculation and rumors about Doris' age and we get this question a lot, looks like we finally have the answer," Day's spokesman, Charley Cullen Walters, told AP. "The story I have heard the most is that at one point Doris was up for a role when quite young and her age may have been miswritten on the audition form. We don't know if that's correct, but if so it could've simply stuck for all these years."
"I've always said that age is just a number and I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it's great to finally know how old I really am!" Day said in a statement Sunday.
On previous birthdays, Day has chosen to use the occasion to highlight her favorite cause: animals. In 1978 Day founded the nonprofit, Doris Day Animal Foundation, which provides grants to projects that rescue, care for and protect animals.
