As an homage to her Southern roots, Witherspoon is writing her own lifestyle book which will "celebrate the American South's signature style, grace, and charm," the publisher Touchstone announced Thursday, according to USA Today. Witherspoon's book, currently untitled, will also advise women on how they can integrate these inspiring elements into their own lives.
"I'm thrilled to be writing my first book with Touchstone," said Witherspoon in a statement. "It's a unique opportunity for me to share funny anecdotes about my Southern upbringing and give people a glimpse into my idea of Southern living."
The book, which will come out in 2018, will include photographs and "personal essays" featuring the people and experiences that have most influenced Witherspoon during her rise to fame. For fans of the Legally Blonde actress, this foray into writing isn't a surprise. She has developed a much-loved Instagram where she posts about her book club (#RWBookClub). Witherspoon has also gained respect in the movie industry with her production company, Pacific Standard, which has co-produced a number of films featuring fierce female protagonists from bestselling novels (like Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl and Cheryl Strayed's Wild).
The lifestyle book runs parallel with another of Witherspoon's projects — her lifestyle brand, Draper James. She was just spotted promoting the opening of her new store in Dallas. At the opening, Witherspoon talked about the brand's plans to start a local program to help women gain confidence in handling their own finances.
"We're just going to take some of the fear out of money and open up the conversation about financial empowerment for young women," said Witherspoon.
