This trio is the perfect start to any Southern recipe.

Ree Drummond, or better known as the Pioneer Woman to her legions of fans, is renowned for her ultra-comforting recipes, especially her casseroles. But when it comes to kitchen essentials, the Food Network star and Oklahoma-based blogger always has three specific ingredients on hand to whip up her signature stick-to-your-ribs dishes.

In a new interview with TODAY Food, the best-selling cookbook author revealed that butter, cream, and bacon are usually within arm’s reach in the kitchen.

"Butter, cream, and bacon," Drummond told TODAY Food. "That’s such a great foundation right there. Any kind of good bake goes with butter and bacon pretty well."

Here’s a greasy high five to Drummond also being a fan of our favorite sources of fat, too. Apparently, the Pioneer Woman and her husband Ladd’s basset hound, Charlie, is also obsessed with the crispy and crackling breakfast staple.  

Perhaps the best tidbit Drummond shared in the interview was how to maneuver in the kitchen when things don’t go as planned. Much like Drummond, her advice was no-nonsense and quite simple: Just don’t overthink it.

"The best piece of advice I’ve ever gotten is very trite: 'Don’t sweat the small stuff,'" Drummond said. "If you ruin the main course of a dinner party, it ain’t all that tragic. Just laugh!"

Of course, if things really do go bad, it’s nothing a little butter, bacon, or cream can’t solve, right?
