Hoda Kotb Adopted An Adorable Little Girl
Isn't this sweet?
Congratulations are in order for Hoda Kotb!
The Today anchor has announced that she recently adopted a baby girl. Kotb, 52, shared the happy news via a phone call to her Today family this morning.
"I do have something to tell you," Kotb, an Oklahoma native, told her co-hosts, "but how about this? Instead of telling you, I'm going to show you something."
A picture of a smiling Kotb holding a newborn baby then appeared on the screen.
"That little girl, Haley Joy — I'm crying, I'm crying," Kotb shared, "is my daughter. I adopted her."
"She's a Valentine's Day baby so she's a little nugget," Kotb gushed. "She is the love of my life."
Her coworkers were understandably excited, though Kathie Lee Gifford was especially proud of herself for keeping the news a secret. "I've got the biggest mouth in the world and I've said zilch," she said. "Hoda, we are thrilled for you, sweetheart. You were made to be a mom."
Kotb called back later and explained the meaning of her daughter's name, which she says was inspired by Halley's Comet.
"It was one of those things. I just picture her sailing through the sky," she said.
Kotb moved in with her boyfriend Joel Schiffman last year. The couple have been dating since June 2013.
Congratulations again Hoda! We know you'll make a great mom.
