Here’s Exactly What Chip and Joanna Gaines Look For in Their Employees
We just got one step closer to our dream job, y’all!
Looking to score your dream job working for Chip and Joanna Gaines’ ever-growing Magnolia empire? Well, get in line.
Chip and Jo receive thousands of applications each day for a slew of open positions, which currently include everything from hospitality to web development. With all the competition out there, how can one applicant possibly expect to stand out from the masses? Luckily, the Fixer Upper stars agreed to outline exactly what they look for in the people they hire at Magnolia with CountryLiving.com.
1. Appreciation for the customer.
This is an important one y’all. "One of the biggest things we tell our employees is that this is an experience—it's really about valuing people's time and making sure we're making the best of it," Joanna revealed. "We want people to not only feel inspired, but feel like we really value the time that they spent with us."
2. Passion and a creative spirit.
This one is no surprise considering who’s doing the hiring. For the Gaineses, "passion" and "people that are creative" always tend to stand out.
3. Strong values and character.
Last but certainly not least, is character. "In a perfect world, they're perfectly qualified and they've got amazing character but if we had to make a concession, we would always choose to concede their qualifications over their character," Chip said. "If you were going to work for Magnolia, we would expect you to want to serve people and we would want you to do that with a high level of integrity."

And one more thing. Both Chip and Joanna agree that a little extra effort goes a long way in making an application stand out. "There's something fun about someone who's willing to spend a little extra time to do something that's unique,” noted Chip.
