A debate we’re not going near with a 10-foot pole is whether or not Southerners are bad drivers. We don’t care if old Uncle Buck is driving 20 mph below the speed limit or Aunt June is driving 30 mph over; it’s not a topic that’s going to grace our Thanksgiving table. But we will happily laugh at (or seriously question) some the creative license plates we see driving along our roadways. Whether drawing inspiration from Biblical references, Southern niceties, or SEC pride, Southern drivers cruise down our Southern interstates with some funny license plate creations. And don’t worry—we did the digging for you. Here are 20 of the most outrageous license plates from our Southern states.

West Virginia: “I Am Late”

We can’t always help it if our casserole took a little long to cook or our hair took extra time to tease; we’d rather be tardy than ill-prepared.
