Tamagotchis Are Headed Back to the U.S. Just in Time for Christmas
90s kids, rejoice!
If you know a 90s kid who still hasn't recovered from the death of her or his beloved Tamagotchi, you're in luck!
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the handheld digital pets' not-so-hostile takeover of the United States, Bandai America has announced that it's releasing a smaller version of the beloved device in limited quantities stateside on November 5. Like the original Tamagotchi, the mini version also includes six different shell designs, and each one includes six characters.
"For many Generation X kids, the Tamagotchi device can be considered America's first and favorite digital pet," Tara Badie, marketing director for Bandai America, said in a statement. "The enduring power of Tamagotchi is its clear expression that nurturing and love never goes out of style. It's such an honor to bring back one of the most beloved toys in a way that captures the magic and joy of a generation while embracing the sensibilities of new generations."
