"Nothing says Christmastime quite like a kitchen full of freshly baked cookies, and this year we're putting a little twist on a classic favorite: shortbread cookies! This recipe is from the Magnolia Table cookbook, and to add something fun for the holidays, we're dipping them in chocolate and sprinkling on some festive toppings," Gaines writes in a new post in her At Home blog.

The cookie dough only requires a few ingredients — all-purpose flour, sugar, kosher salt, salted butter, pure vanilla extract — and the chocolate glaze is made from chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Toppings-wise, Gaines encourages readers to have fun brainstorming. In the article, Gaines suggested crushed peppermint, crushed toffee and toasted pecans, chopped toasted pistachios, and flaked sea salt to get your wheels turning.
