Kathleen Purvis

Kathleen Purvis is a longtime journalist with more than 30 years of experience covering food, travel, and Southern culture. She was the food editor of The Charlotte Observer for many years, and became a freelance writer in 2019. She is the author of three books for the University of North Carolina Press, "Pecans" and "Bourbon" in the Savor the South series, and "Distilling the South," on touring Southern craft distilleries. She has been a finalist for the James Beard Awards in journalism, and has won numerous awards from the Association of Food Journalists. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
