Wedding season is in full force and here at Southern Living, we couldn’t be more thrilled. We’ll be bringing you weekly wedding-related posts—DIY ideas, etiquette tips, real weddings and more. This week, we've found adorable wire-wrapped vases from Becca Atchison of Rebecca Rose Events!
This easy DIY project will add metallic zest to your tabletops. Whether you're coordinating with gold flatware or looking for a playful take on a traditional color palette, adding wire to an otherwise simple vase is a unique and fun twist to your table setting.
The Project: DIY Wire-Wrapped Vases
Timeline: One month before the wedding
Materials: Glass bud vases (varying sizes) Gold floral wire Wire cutters Fresh flowers
- Twist one end of the gold wire in a circle around the bottom of the base so that no sharp edge is showing. After you've secured the base, delicately wrap each vase with the desired amount of wire.
- When you've finished with your design, clip the end of the wire and tuck it into the top of the vase, so no loose ends are exposed.
- Add the blooms! Whether you’re passing the vases to a florist or arranging on your own, the next step in the process is to add water and some fresh flowers. The bright green stems will contrast the gold wire's metallic shimmer.
- Enjoy your vases! Not only are these vases an easy option for your centerpieces, they're also a simple way to brighten up your bridal shower or kitchen table.
Pro Tip: Use the gold wire on bouquet wraps and boutonnieres to create some cohesion between your ceremony and reception. For another twist, choose colored wire (copper, blue, red, etc.) to match your wedding color scheme.
