A Month of Festivals

Vince Danner, associate conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, led the Sunset Symphony last year. 

Crowds flock to this town on the Mississippi four times this month for Memphis in May festivities.

  • Beale Street Music Festival: April 29-May 1; Tom Lee Park. Tickets: $22.50 daily, $45 three-day pass. With more than 60 artists performing, this music festival stands as one of the largest in the country.
  • Desti-Nations International Family Festival: May 6-8; Audubon Park. Admission: $4 per day. This cultural celebration honors Ireland this year.
  • World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest: May 12-14. Admission: $7 per day.
  • Sunset Symphony: May 28, 7:30 p.m. Admission: $6.
