Afternoon tea, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey are about to get a lot closer for Nashville-area residents. Yesterday, August 8th, British Airways announced nonstop flights between Nashville and London, Heathrow Airport. The flight will run five days a week and tickets are available now  to purchase on ba.com.

Even better, passengers will be flying to London in style on one of the newest aircraft in British Airways’ fleet, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The plane can hold 214 customers. The new fuel-efficient aircraft operates with a lower pressurization, which helps to minimize the effects of jet lag for customers, according to the British Airways announcement.

“Nashville has all the qualities that we look for in a new destination, a fast growing economy, thriving cultural scene and strong connections to Europe,” Simon Brooks, British Airways’ senior vice president for North America, said in the same press release. “We know British tourists will be excited to discover Music City and are looking forward to welcoming new customers from Tennessee on board very soon.”

The curdled milk in our crumpets? The route won’t kick off until May 2018. Well, at least that gives us more time to plot out our outfits.
