Food blogger Cara Greenstein shares a fall-inspired take on s'mores that is made for sharing.
As soon as the holiday season approaches, my sweet tooth surges. From cookie swaps to sugary cocktails and every bite in between, my excuses to turn down dessert manage to escape me. Who's with me?
Though pies of every kind are a staple at Thanksgiving and Christmas, I challenge you to step away from your oven and take advantage of the beautiful outdoor scenery in the backyard for holiday-style s’mores.
This s’mores lineup receives a sophisticated makeover for Thanksgiving with the ever-popular flavors of pumpkin and spice. You can't make s'more without oversized marshmallows and good-quality dark chocolate, but a pumpkin butter spread and gingersnaps instead of the usual graham crackers add a seasonal touch. Spread the pumpkin butter on both gingersnap cookies before sandwiching the dark chocolate and roasted marshmallow between them.

This interactive and engaging dessert is perfect for a Friendsgiving celebration, or would be a fun addition to your family's Thanksgiving meal. Set up your spread in an outdoor space where guests can roast marshmallows around a fire pit. For even more coziness, place a basket of rolled-up fleece blankets nearby in case anyone needs an extra layer of warmth while they assemble their desserts.
Enjoy the season even s'more with those you hold dear.
