Located halfway between Marathon and Islamorada, Hawk's Cay includes more activities than a vacationer could ever want. The grounds contain five heated pools, including one for kids complete with a pirate ship; eight tennis courts; a full-service spa; a putt-putt golf course; a tree house; a children's activities club; a Dolphin Connection program, providing up close encounters with six bottlenose dolphins; and a saltwater lagoon. You can swim, snorkel, parasail, fly-fish, kayak, water-ski, sail, scuba dive, or soak up some sun. Oh, and guests have privileges at the 18-hole Sombrero Country Club course. When you get to your tropical room, you'll find a small refrigerator, plus a balcony or private deck.

Rates: $239-$329. The $99 rate is available August 12- December 20 (Sunday-Thursday only); $139 rate is available Friday-Saturday during this time. When making reservations, guests must request the Southern Living rate, or enter the password SOUTHERN on the Web site.
