What To Do
Drop in High Country Art & Antique to peruse folk art. Down the street, E. Quinn--Bookseller and Blue Ridge Coffees offer a cup of java alongside used, rare, and antiquarian books. Don't miss Blue Ridge Adventure Wear for outdoor clothing.
Also, plan to see the surrounding forests from atop a fine horse at Wade Whelchel and Carol Upshaw's Muletop Mountain Outfitters; (706) 632-0076 or www.muletop.com. Wade's descriptions enliven the trail that crosses his 350 wooded acres.
Where To Eat
A trio of locally owned restaurants can satisfy most cravings. Visit the Victorian Tea Room and Antiques, Gifts, and Collectibles for hearty food such as wild mushroom soup or beef brisket. For simple sandwiches and salads, go to Serenity Garden Cafe. And for a tasty dinner of fresh trout, try the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant.
Some of the best food in town comes from Indigo Hills Market and Catering Company. This gourmet grocery prepares dishes that you can later heat and serve. After trying rosemary- and garlic-roasted lamb with kalamata tapenade or Creole chicken salad, we know you'll want to return for more to take back home with you.
