Ask anyone in Little Rock, and they'll admit to being awestruck by this city's youthful makeover. Thanks to millions of dollars in funding that led to an upgrade in shopping, dining, and entertainment venues, the city shines like a diva on display. This month, revel in Little Rock's new look and hot attractions, all of which promise to warm up a January weekend.

More like a happening high-rise than a chain property, the new Courtyard by Marriott Downtown ([501] 975-9800) sits in the heart of the city's entertainment and shopping scene. With a slick-looking lobby, cocktail bar, and swanky rooms, the Courtyard offers rates of $109 a night.
For something cozier, try Rosemont Bed and Breakfast ([501] 374-7456) in the Quapaw Quarter Historic District. Opt for the Greenbriar room ($95) to enjoy hardwood floors and a queen-size feather bed.
Many places in the city are new and improved, but a few old favorites stay in season. At Trio's ([501] 221-3330), guests lunch on a different special every day. I had the delicious mustard-crusted wild salmon ($10.50) with rich garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus.
