Louisiana is a state that has suffered hard times but still celebrates the good times. Better still, she loves to share those good times with visitors, especially in Acadiana--the towns of Breaux Bridge, St. Martinville, and Lafayette. Put on your dancing shoes, bring your appetite, and join the party.
Cajun Flavor in Breaux Bridge
You know you're in the right place when the aromas of simmering onion, bell pepper, and celery have your mouth watering before you even sample the addictive cuisine. Café Des Amis, located in Breaux Bridge, brings both great food and music to enthusiastic visitors each Saturday with its rousing Zydeco Breakfast. Plan to come before 8 a.m.; this popular spot fills up fast. Dine on a Zydeco Omelet, stuffed with onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheese and served with a side of andouille grits ($7.95). Then shake a leg to the zydeco music played on squeeze box and rubboard. If you can't make the Saturday event, come any day but Monday and Tuesday for lunch or dinner, where you'll find such delicacies as crawfish pie ($12.95) or barbecue shrimp ($18.95).
