Along the Carolina Coast
continued  PAGE 2 OF 2

Fort Moultrie has guarded the entrance to the Charleston Harbor since the 1700's.

There are at least a hundred good reasons to explore this region--more than 200 if you count all the golf courses. To find them all, use U.S. 17 as your guide. The drive from the North Carolina border down to Charleston covers about 120 miles and takes less than three hours (if you use the U.S. 17 Bypass to avoid downtown Myrtle Beach). But take your time; spread your trip over a couple of days or more and you'll enjoy a medley of treasures.
