#2: Famous beignets from Café Du Monde
|
Every year, Southern Living eats its way across the South. As our staff explores the towns, hamlets, and cities of our region, we sample as many meals as we can, adding to our passions.
For the first time ever, we've asked all the folks here at the magazine to submit their favorite food finds--from the finest dishes in the most elegant bistros to the best inexpensive snacks at grab-and-go stores. To help hone our list, we did require a discriminating palate: Each person could only choose one place in a single location for each category. The result is a wonderful mélange of flavors and locales. Don't find your favorite here? Fill out our 2005 Readers' Choice Awards Survey to add yours to next year's list (and to enter for a chance to win a spectacular vacation). So belly up to the computer, and let's go taste testing.
"204 Food Finds Across the Region" was coordinated by Annette Thompson with assistance from Whitney Fuller, Mesha Smith, and Jacqueline M. Vogel.
