1. Sour Cream Cake Layers 2. White Cake Layers 3. Sugared Pecans 4. Pecan Divinity Cake 5. Praline Cream Cake 6. Cranberry-Ambrosia Cake Anyone who has ever tasted divinity understands the traits that set this Southern favorite apart. The candy's meltingly sweet flavor offers a heavenly contrast to its airy texture and cloudlike appearance. In fact, the pecan halves on top seem to be the only earthly anchor for each sugary piece. These qualities, we reasoned, could also apply to cake frosting--with a little tweaking, of course. It would be the perfect contrast to tender layers of sour cream cake. Here we include the recipe for our Pecan Divinity Cake, which is featured on our December cover. For those of you who prefer to make the cake layers from scratch, try the recipe for White Cake Layers. The layers are light and delicious, but sturdy enough to support the fillings and frostings. |
